Garlic and Herb Dutch Oven Bread

This is the perfect recipe for a cozy day at home. Especially if you are spending ALL DAY at home! This one takes time but the results are worth it! Not only will you get to enjoy a delicious loaf of home-made bread, your house will smell amazing in the process.

Of all the recipes I have tried, this one made me the most proud. I felt like the Pioneer Woman. I think I could have survived living in ancient times.. or the middle ages... or maybe the prairie... Ok, who am I kidding, I can't even camp.

But I can make bread! And now you can too. So grab some cozy socks, put on some background music, and enjoy the process.

Perfect for a cool Autumn day

You can also use this recipe with different herbs, or substitute for a jalapeno cheese bread. Next time I think I will experiment with using seeds.

Recipe:

1 Packet Active Dry Yeast

2 Cups Warm Water

4 Cups Flour

1 1/2 Teaspoons Salt

1 Tlbs Thyme

1 1/2 Tlbs Rosemary

Add yeast to water and stir

Combine salt with Flour and Herbs

Add Yeast and Water to Flour Mixture

Flour your hands before mixing

Add Roasted Garlic (See below)

Knead together until you have a doughy consistency

Let rise 1 1/2 to 2 hours - dough should be twice the size

Use a floured spatula to pull dough away from the sides of the bowl

Let rise another 1 1/2 to 2 hours

Remove from the bowl onto a floured surface

Form the dough by first kneading in flour then pulling the sides and pinching at the top

Grease a clean bowl with olive oil and flour

Place dough into the bowl pinched side down

Pre-heat a Dutch oven for 1 hour at 450 f

Carefully place the dough into the oven

Cook at 450 for 30 minutes with the top on, then remove the top and cook for another 15 minutes at 400

Cool for 10 minutes

Slice and Enjoy!

Roasted Garlic:

10 Cloves Garlic

Drizzle with Olive Oil

Add Salt and Pepper

Bake for 30 minutes at 400 f
